Pack vs Locker

Split your gear into must-carry vs can-be-locker-stored at Yading village. Real hostel lockers exist — this tool tells you what to leave.

What this solves

Yading village hostels have small, real lockers (about 30 × 40 × 50 cm). You can leave non-trekking gear there for the duration of your Kora. The catch: the hostel is closed; they re-rent the bed nightly; you don't get back until you return. So your "locker-stored" list can't include anything you need on the trail or if you bail halfway. This tool splits the master list into two halves and explains the boundary.

How to read the result

Two columns: items to put in your pack, items to lock at the hostel. The hostel takes only what fits in a 30 × 40 × 50 cm locker — that's roughly the size of a cabin bag.

FAQ

Q: Can the hostel hold a duffel bag?
A: Most can store one full duffel for ¥30–50/day behind the front desk. Smaller lockers are included with the bed. Ask at check-in.
Q: What if I bail out early?
A: Bailing out usually means Yading village to Daocheng — pass through your hostel. Worst case you take a ¥100 taxi back. Don't lock anything you'd need to walk out without.
Q: Are hostel walls safe from theft?
A: Generally yes for the Yading village cluster (Yading Holy Land, Yading Tibetan House, etc.). Photo your ID + valuables before locking. Avoid hostels with shared dorm & no front desk.
Q: What about laundry?
A: Most hostels offer wash (¥20/bag) with next-day return. Useful — re-wear base layers and put one less in your pack.
